Quick answers
-
How do I turn on Full Disk Access?
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access, and enable ZapIt. ZapIt suggests this so it can see leftovers in folders macOS protects.
-
Some files weren't removed
ZapIt quits the app and unloads its background agents before removing anything. If a file still couldn't be removed, the summary screen lists it. Make sure the app is closed and try again. ZapIt moves items to the Trash first.
-
How do I get something back?
Open the Trash in Finder, select the item and choose File > Put Back. Items that needed administrator rights can’t use Put Back, so drag them back to the folder shown in ZapIt’s log. Everything ZapIt removed stays in the Trash until you empty it.
-
Why can't I remove a built-in app?
Apps that come with macOS are protected by System Integrity Protection (SIP), so ZapIt leaves them alone. It also won't uninstall itself.
-
Does it support Apple Silicon?
Yes. ZapIt runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 14 or later.
-
License or billing issues?
Email us from your purchase address for faster lookup. The hardware ID shown in ZapIt's license window helps too.
-
Is my download genuine?
Compare the installer's SHA-256 hash with the one in the download verification answer.
